Drayton Dragon Awards
Congratulations to our Drayton Dragon Award recipients.

Principal News
As we move into the final week of Term 2, I want to take this moment to acknowledge the efforts of our students and staff with their learning and progress across the school.
Classrooms have been buzzing as students consolidate their learning completing assessment tasks and teachers are preparing Semester 1 report cards. These reports provide a snapshot of your child's academic progress and effort, we encourage all families to take the time to celebrate successes.
Finally, we continue to focus on the importance of wearing with pride the school uniform every day, as well as the importance of daily attendance. Every day counts in building strong learning foundations. Thank you for your efforts in getting children to school on time, in uniform and ready to learn.
Thank you for your continued support, it is truly a team effort, and we are proud of the learning and growth happening each day at our school. We wish all our Drayton SS families are wonderful, safe and relaxing holidays and look forward to seeing everyone back with smiling faces on Monday 14 July.
Report Cards
Semester 1 Report Cards will be emailed out to Drayton SS parents/carers on Thursday 26 June. If you haven’t received your child/ren’s report cards on Thursday, please let the school know on Friday 27 June so that we can get ensure that you receive it.
Under 8s Day
Our Under 8s Day was a scientific success. A big thank you to Mrs Ormsby for organising this event, our staff and students who helped and thank you to all those who attended.
Harristown SHS Musical
Our Year 6 students were fortunate enough to attend the Harristown SHS’s ‘Strictly Ballroom the Musical’ last Friday. From talking with some of the students on their return, they had a great time and really enjoyed the event. Thank you to Harristown SHS for inviting us.
Staff Update
I’m happy to confirm that Carol Bucton, substantive Head of Special Education Services – HO2, has been permanently placed in the Drayton Cluster Special Education programme to support Drayton SS and Cluster Schools commencing 14 July 2025.
TeamKids
TeamKids offer a brilliant environment for your children to engage in whilst waiting for school to commence each day. With exciting options like STEM Club, Garden Club, and Homework Club, there’s something to suit every interest.

Readers Cup
Some of our Students competed against other schools in the 2025 Darling Downs Readers Cup. It was our first time competing in the challenge and while we didn't take home a trophy, we all enjoyed reading the selected books and meeting author Katrina Nannestad. A huge THANKS to parents who drove students to highlands to compete, and to students who represented Drayton.

Prep/1's week with Darcy the Dragon!
The Prep/1s have had a great week with Darcy the Dragon. Darcy has supervised Maths activities and been taken on trips to the Library and the Dragon Trolley. Darcy even got to learn some positional language as the students took him through our classroom obstacle course. He has been so impressed to see the Prep/1s being fantastic Drayton Dragons!

Under 8's Day
We all had a great time at Under 8's day learning how science works in everyday life. Thanks to TeamKids and our visitors from Goodstart Drayton. Thanks to Mrs Ormsby, Mrs Hennessy and the school leaders, well done.
