Principal News
Dear Parents, Caregivers and Community Members,
Welcome to Week 8 of Term 2 – It is very difficult to believe we are down to the last 15 school days of Term 2 and that ‘Winter’ has officially commenced. Students are busy finalising their teaching and learning and assessment pieces for Semester 1 over the next few weeks. Please assist us in reinforcing with your child to be especially ‘asking for help when needed’ (our PBL focus for the rest of this week) and ‘choose kindness’ (our PBL focus for the last two weeks of this term) during this period.
National Chaplaincy Week (1 to 8 June)

Chaplaincy Week was an opportunity to celebrate the work of Scripture Union (SU) chaplains working in schools across Queensland and making a positive difference in each of their communities. Did you know that 67% of all Queensland schools (primary and secondary) have a chaplain? That means more than 400,000 Queensland students have access to chaplaincy support. We are very fortunate at Drayton State School to have the very talented, Chappy Sophie Gittins, as an integral member of our school team. Chappy Sophie’s friendly supportive presence and thoughtful work with staff, students and community members is highly valued and very much appreciated.
School Cleaners’ Day
School Cleaners' Day will be celebrated on Monday 16 June 2025. This day is an opportunity to acknowledge and appreciate the work of cleaners in state schools across Queensland. At Drayton State School our school is kept immaculate thanks to the brilliant work by both of our cleaners Kristie-Lee and Noeleen. I’d like to sincerely thank both Kristie-Lee and Noeleen for the time and effort that they both put in to keeping our school looking great.
Under 8s Day
A reminder that we will be celebrating our Under 8s Day on Thursday 19 June from 9am-11am. This year’s Under 8s Day will have a Science based influence and more information will come out soon to provide details of the morning’s events. We look forward to seeing you there.
Cooler Weather Uniform
As the cooler weather has arrived students have commenced wearing jumpers and trackpants to school. Please ensure all clothing is clearly labelled with your child’s name so that any misplaced pieces can be easily returned to their owner. If purchasing new items this season, our school dress code lists plain green jumpers/trackpants as the preferred colour for winter clothing. Jumpers with the school’s name and logo are also available for purchase from The School Uniform shop if desired on either Monday or Friday. Our School Dress Code is available for viewing on our school website/Forms and Documents tab/Documents.
