Principal News
The Very Hungry Caterpillar
Our Prep-Year 2 students had a fantastic time attending the Empire Theatre last Thursday to see The Very Hungry Caterpillar and other supporting shows. So lovely to see the smiling faces on their return to school and to hear that they had a wonderful time.
Year 5/6 Camp
Our Year 5/6 students to Camp Cooby on Thursday 20 March to Friday 21 March is fast approaching, please let the school know if you need any assistance in getting ready for this camp.
NAPLAN
NAPLAN is not far away beginning on Wednesday 12 March and running until Wednesday 19 March for our Year 3 and Year 5 students. It will be very important for our Year 5 students to be in attendance at school from Wednesday 12-Friday 14 March to ensure that we are able to complete all their NAPLAN tests well before our Year 5/6 camp.
In preparation for NAPLAN our school will be providing our Year 3 and Year 5 students the opportunity to have some preparation by participating in NAPLAN online practice on Tuesday 25 February.
Pre-Service Teachers
We will be welcoming Abbey (beginning the 3 March – 25 days) and Cheryl (beginning the 17 March – 15 days), two pre-service teachers into our school community from The University of Southern Queensland to complete their placements. A huge thank you to Stacey, Kailah and their students for opening their classrooms to future teachers!
P&C AGM
A reminder that our P&C AGM will be on Wednesday 5 March beginning at 3:15pm in the Drayton State School Hall. All Executive positions will be open for nominations. The AGM will be followed by the general meeting. We look forward to seeing you there.

RI in Schools
Hello to the families of Drayton State School students. My name is Jackie Bishop, and I am a volunteer for CRI (Christian Religious Instruction) or RI at your school.
Students in Years 1-6 may participate in a weekly, 30-minute, age-appropriate and engaging lesson, that encourages story-telling, drama, interactive discussion, music and craft.
All Toowoomba state school children can be part of a CRI programme, which reinforces Queensland Education core values of responsibility, understanding, respect, tolerance, inclusion, integrity, positive self-image, freedom, compassion and caring. Students are encouraged to develop positive values and choices on topics such as thankfulness, forgiveness and hope.
Each RI instructor holds a blue card, is accredited by their church, attends in-service training and personal development sessions (including child safety) and is approved by the school Principal.
If you are not already part of this program and would like to be, please go to the school office for sign-up details.
It’s a privilege to be part of your school community and I look forward to another year of CRI.

AGM Notice
Please note our AGM will be over two meetings this year.
Part 1 will take part on Wednesday; 5th March at 3.15pm.
This will involve position nominations, voting & setting a fundraising plan for 2025.
Even if you don’t want a position, please come along and share your thoughts on events you would like to see at the school in 2025.
(Part 2 of the AGM will take part later in March, when audited Financials are available.)
Mother’s Day Stall
Donations have started for this year’s Mother’s Day stall.
Bunnings – Toowoomba West have kindly contributed $80 in vouchers to our stall. We are so grateful for their ongoing support & can’t wait to see the range of succulents and plants we can have on the stall this year.
If you would like to be involved in the stall via donated gifts, please reach out to Sarah via pandc@draytonss.qld.edu.au.
Executive Positions
We are currently seeking a President, Secretary & Vice President for our P&C Executive team.
If you are interested in being part of our team, please reach out to current members via pandc@draytonss.qld.edu.au
If you think you would like to be part of the team but are not sure which role you would like to take on, we have included below a little summary of what each role entails.
It’s a really wonderful way to meet new, like-minded people & to help enrich your child’s school experience.

Volunteers really do need other volunteers to make a difference. We would love to see some new faces and fresh ideas at our next meeting!
Contact the P&C
